In the early 2000s, the Singaporean market relied heavily on single-layer polyethylene food packaging pouches, which provided basic containment but limited shelf-life and poor barrier properties against the humid Asian air.
Between 2010 and 2020, the industry transitioned toward multi-layer co-extrusion and lamination. This era saw the rise of the retort process, where the tri laminate retort pouch became the gold standard for the burgeoning "heat-and-eat" meal sector, allowing for high-temperature sterilization.
From 2021 to the present, the focus has pivoted to "Smart & Green." The integration of compostable polymers and digital printing has enabled the mass production of highly specific, low-MOQ custom food packaging pouch designs that meet stringent environmental certifications.
