Market Development History
Prior to 2010, the Congolese market relied heavily on single-layer LDPE bags with minimal barrier properties, which were insufficient for the long-term preservation of processed foods in high-humidity environments.
Between 2011 and 2018, the introduction of laminated structures began to take hold. Manufacturers started adopting basic PET/PE combinations to improve puncture resistance and print quality for food packaging pouches, enabling better brand recognition.
From 2019 to the present, there has been a strategic shift toward "Retort" technology. The adoption of the tri laminate retort pouch has revolutionized the local food industry by allowing sterilization of food within the pouch, eliminating the need for refrigeration in regions with unstable power grids.
