Market Development History
In the early 2000s, the Finnish market relied heavily on single-layer polyethylene and glass. However, by 2010, the shift toward flexible packaging accelerated as brands sought to reduce logistics costs and carbon footprints associated with heavy containers.
Between 2015 and 2020, the industry saw a technical leap with the introduction of high-precision printing. This allowed for custom food pouches with logo to become a standard for SMEs in Helsinki and Tampere, enabling them to compete globally through superior visual branding.
From 2021 onwards, the focus transitioned toward "Monomaterial" and "Bio-based" structures. The goal has been to maintain the barrier strength of traditional laminates while ensuring the packaging is fully recyclable within Finland's advanced waste management infrastructure.
